Aerial footage of Morro Rock on June 21, 2015 - Summer Solstice. Morro Rock is known as Lesamo to the Salinan tribe. The Salinans have the right to ascend the rock on summer and winter solstice of every year. 5 members of the Salinan tribe can be seen atop the peak in this footage.
This is currently an area of contention with the Northern Chumash tribe who contends that the rock is part of their historical territory and should not be trod upon. In the Chumash tradition, the landmark is called Lisamu.
