How to set up a bow hold that will allow you to produce a good sound?

Bear in mind that the bow is very light, it weights 70, sometimes 90 grams which means you do not have to worry about dropping it or have to hold on to it in a very tight way. Find a position where the bow sits in your hand rather than worrying that it might drop and building tension up to your shoulder
For a basic feeling of how to hold a bow, think of a door handle
A lot of bows have a little eye, what you do is put your pinkie on that eye and build your hand position from there
The ring finger goes on the metal
The middle finger goes on the hair
The index finger should be on the metal but that also depends on how big your hand is
All of this defines where the thumb goes
Your thumb should be in a curved position
The thumb goes at the edge of the frog
Then you put your index finger in the middle of the bow and then start experimenting with your hand position
The ring and index finger really own the bow

More advice on how to hold the bow properly:

Keep a space between the fingers
Relax and do not grad the bow, simply hold it
Put away the bow and try to position the thumb between your ring and middle finger
Your fingers should be curved and never flat
The vast majority of performers, Yo-yo ma and Rostropovich included use a straight thumb
The thumb should work as a pivot point
