Located south of Jerusalem in the Hebron mountains, is an enigmatic, ancient synagogue at Susya from the 4-6th century CE. In this video, I discuss some of the reasons why some consider it to be originally an early Jewish Christian site. With two rolling stones by the entrance, the Yeshua (Jesus) mosaic inscription, and the iconography of the mosaic floor, one has to wonder.The well preserved mosaics are rare in the Southern Judean tribal allotment. In addition, the synagogue was not documented in antiquity.
There is an escape tunnel, and it's fun to navigate it a few hundred meters to the outside!
