It's quite surprising that this movie, 'Ekstra' is the only independent film that Vilma Santos has done in all of her illustrious movie career. When I saw the movie, it doesn't look like an indie. To begin with, there are many characters in the movie, which is a movie within a television series. I, for one, don't watch much indie films because of that characteristic--it is a low-budget production, capitalizing only on a good script and a new and promising director. It's director, Jeffrey Jeturian, I don't know if he was already an established director in 2013. Thirteen years later, his recent big-budgeted film was the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, 'Un-Marry'.
