Everyone remembers the SV-R for its 1,000hp nitrous option that never existed, but is it time to start considering the V8 sports car as a modern classic?
An all-carbon body, Ford Mustang-sourced 5.0-litre V8 and nearly 400hp on tap, there was - and still is - a lot going for the one-of-82 XPower SV. However, its marmite looks (penned by McLaren F1 designer Peter Stevens), long gearing and tales of questionable build quality, not least from Rowan Atkinson, have always held the SV back from being considered a millennium hero. But has time been kind to the SV and SV-R? And does it make more sense now than it did 20 years ago? Cam Tait finds out.
