Описание: What is it REALLY like to get that coveted book deal? Here are 5 facts about being traditionally published that might surprise you:

1️⃣ You’ll still have to revise. Getting a book deal doesn’t mean your book is done — you’ll likely go through several more rounds of developmental editing with your editor at the publishing house, then copyediting and proofreading.

2️⃣ You will get exciting opportunities. Traditional publishing can open doors to things like book club selection, media coverage, prestigious awards, translations and adaptations.

3️⃣ The marketing budget varies book to book. Publishers allocate marketing resources based on how they think a book is going to perform, which is largely out of your control.

4️⃣ Payments will trickle in. Your advance will be paid in multiple installments throughout the publishing process, & you will only receive royalty payments if you earn out the advance.

5️⃣ Others will look up to you. Friends, other authors & even strangers may want your help as they navigate their own publishing journeys. Pay it forward when you can, but remember to set realistic boundaries & know your limits!
