The JKP recently partnered with the World Bank's Poverty Reduction and Economic Management (PREM) Network to present a webcast of "The Implications of Economic Policy For Immigration."
This seminar featured George Borjas, Professor of Economics and Social Policy at Harvard University, and was chaired by Otaviano Canuto, World Bank Vice President and PREM Head of Network.
Professor Borjas is one of the leading economists specializing in the study of immigration. In this lecture he focued on what economics can teach us about the determinants and consequences of immigration:
What drives some people to migrate and others to stay?
Is immigration really such a "win-win"? Who are the winners and losers?
What are the implications of these lessons for immigration and labor reforms like the ones discussed in the US?
