Secrets of melody writing. The Question and Answer effect in song writing and composition

In this video we are determined to analyse the relationship among the melodic cells. We are not going beyond the cells as we are not talking about phrases and periods in this particular video.
Although I created the names "Request and Reply", the concept is very common among musicians but we all find a way to explain it in our way, which is nice.
I also created the name "Circular Reply" but the concept is used in thousand of songs and pieces.

The "Call-Response" has origin in the African music but you can find it in great clasical musicians like Mozart (Jupiter Symphony Finale, Beethoven 5th and 6th Symphony, Strauss' Blue Danube and much more. See some popular music examples Below.

No teacher expect the students to agree on how to analyse a piece, but nobody can deny the presence of continuous tension-release, question and answer, up and down or whatever you want to call in the construction of melodies. YOU DON'T NEED TO KNOW THIS TO COMPOSE MUSIC, but knowing this helps you to keep control of what you want to do.

[ ] means request
{ } means reply
( ) means bridge
{[ ]} means Reply to the last cell and request to the next one at the same time

Definition of Cell: "small rhythmic and melodic design that can be isolated, or can make up one part of a thematic context." Encyclopédie Larousse

A rhythmic cell is a cell without melodic connotations. It may be entirely percussive or applied to different melodic segments. (source: Wikipedia)

The Reply is like the request but suppresses the last note to make the Reply strong:

Request and Reply have different rhythm and notes.

DELAYING THE REPLY:

Delaying the Reply through the repetition of the first cell
