Loch Leven - Pike Fishing (My true story about Most of fishing days in this loch)

Описание: The most of my fishing ends up in Loch Leven like this. I don't want sound negative but it is hard fishing place. However, also, it can be really rewarding because there is high number of big pike and any cast could deliver the fish of the lifetime. This is reason why I keep returning.

Loch Leven is a fresh water loch located immediately to the east of the burgh of Kinross in Perth and Kinross council area, central Scotland. Roughly triangular, the loch is about 6 km (3.7 mi) at its longest.
There are seven islands on the loch, the largest being St Serf's Inch. Loch Leven Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1567, lies on one of these islands, and it can be reached by a ferry operated from Kinross by Historic Environment Scotland during the summer months.

Loch Leven has been renowned – both nationally and internationally – as a brown trout fishery for well over a hundred years. It is famous for its unique strain of brown trout, Salmo Levensis, which has been used to stock rivers, lakes and lochs not only in this country, but also all over the world. After trials of stocking both brown trout and rainbow trout during the latter half of the 20th century, Loch Leven has reverted to once more being a natural brown trout fishery.

Fishing on the Loch is under the management of Loch Leven Fisheries, which has a well-maintained fleet of modern, fibre glass design boats with outboard motors. These operate from a main pier at the Southwest corner of the Loch, where facilities include the Boathouse Restaurant and Coffee Shack as well as toilet facilities. There is also a big shed for weighing in the catches and ample parking.

Apart from fishing, Loch Leven is also famous for being a National Nature Reserve and one of Europe’s most important wetland sites, with great numbers and variety of breeding wildfowl and up to 20,000 pink-foot geese in the spring and autumn.
