Adonis & Teton Saltes of the Oglala Lakota BEAR Project joined us at the sanctuary for a transformative day. Walking with the wolf-dogs, sharing cultural teachings, and learning from one another - we laid the foundation for a partnership rooted in kinship and respect. The BEAR Project supports youth on the Pine Ridge Reservation, empowering them through connection to land, tradition, and self-determination. (www.bearproject.net)
Throughout the day, we explored traditional Lakota perspectives on the Wolf Nation and exchanged stories about our missions. Our partnership is grounded in the shared belief that wolves are sacred teachers — and that true conservation requires integrating the knowledge, values, and teachings of all stakeholders.
