Months ago I got to play a beta version of 2.0 and now the official version is out. It's virtually the same as the beta version, minus a lot of bugs. There were still some bugs in this run, the most notable was in the first round of E4 battles. The Megas there were wonky, the Mega Evolution would happen, but the sprites don't change. Then the next mon comes out and their sprite is somehow the Mega Evolution of the previous mon. I think this bug might've also affected tpes, stats, and maybe movesets of the 2nd mons sent out in the E4 battles. For the postgame, it was easier to just use the Legendary Dragon-types since they were all at level 70, thus closer to the levels of the E4. Grinding them up for the final gauntlet didn't take so long, though it sucks to have grind the old fashion way. I'm used to spamming Rare Candies or using a level-up to cap feature.
That's something to get over with this hack, it's still pretty dated. That's mainly because of the ROMbase used, which has to be at least 8 years old. It's annoying how certain dated mechanics are present. Doubles following Gen 3 mechanics, Leech Seed not being nerfed, and sleep turns lasting more than 3 turns. I think even confusion turns lasted that long. The main draw for the hack is the Fakemon roster and the added types of Digital and Cosmic. For Dragon though, the roster was so small. This video showcases almost every Dragon-type in the hack. I didn't use Mega Griant or Moldrake, who get the Dragon-type upon Mega Evolution.
The run was not very difficult. Brock was impossible without either using more than 3 mons, which I'm not even sure if that makes him beatable, or overleveling Drimagon so it could learn Aqua Jet. I went with the latter.
The progression of the hack is pretty much the same as regular FireRed, the postgame gauntlet is obviously different. Without that gauntlet, this video would've been around 15 minutes, if that. One gripe I had during this run was not being able to buy PP restoring items, it's why I did some TM shenanigans in the final gauntlet.
The music's from Dragon Ball Z.
