Red Capped Manakin dancing - Pipra Mentalis - Gelbhosenpipra Panama

Описание: We went to Panama specifically to see this bird. After searching the redcapped manakin for 12 days and seeing many red-capped females and juveniles in different locations (besides many other manakins), on the last day we were finally lucky and a park ranger pointed us to a lek. Five km farther uphill on the beautiful plantation road in Soberanía National Park, a full-grown male sang his song - diu diu hiiiiaaaa - DIP! And there it sat! Not to be missed if you look in the more or less right direction, as the red is really bright. To see the tiny bird (8cm) at all was a gift, but to see it dancing for us we would not have imagined. Thirsty but elated we went on the journey home.
