Young Jedediah trudged through a pine forest, surrounded by the towering mountains of House Creek Butte. The mess in Fields in Oregon was not good for the kid, especially his right side, from which there was now a neat hole from the Colt Navy. Wild tiredness, hunger, injury and a bounty on the head... yes, none of these variables were of any use to Jededayah on this arduous march south.

Another day and another test. This time I had to walk my sawed-off shotgun, which rested on my shoulder in calm times. Modoc. It turns out that they had been chasing him for a couple of days and decided to attack him near the lake. Now they have two fewer tribe members, and Jededai has two more sins.

The change in landscape was so sudden that the kid thought he was in hell. The pine forest and fresh air were suddenly replaced by the suffocating heat of the desert and cacti. The trek through the desert was especially difficult, especially the smell of the wound was maddening. And that coyote that's been following him since he came out of the woods. Not good. You have to keep your ears sharp.

Coyote. Why doesn't he lag behind? A stupid animal is on his heels. Oh, I wish I could go home now... the smell of fresh laundry and hot beans. Deuce. Well, the scorpion didn't taste bad either.

An unnamed settlement. Or is it a mirage? No, definitely not him! The kid was finally able to have a bite to eat and heal the wound on his side. Fortunately, his purse was weighty, after all, the mess in Oregon was not in vain. Although, now all these pennies will be spent on treatment by this German doctor. What will he spend the money on? Sausages?

There is no happiness without unhappiness. And young Jedediah remembered that. So this time a couple of shooters drove into this small town. Everything would have been fine if it hadn't been for the portrait of him that they brought with them. And what were they thinking? At least now one of them doesn't have that useless thing - a head. And the boy got a bay.

The Way to the South. Mexico? Not bad. I've heard that you can make a profit there. Moreover, the wound has already healed, and only a couple of days have passed since its treatment! Was the magic elixir true? I should have taken a couple of them with me when the shooting started. What's that sound? A coyote's howl? That's it! He's hot on his heels! But why? I hope he doesn't think the kid is a weak prey? In any case, let him come and get his share of lead.

The crackle of the fire was soothing. A small supply of biscuits was pleasantly combined with delicious coffee brewed in a can. Just like in Louisiana by the river. If it hadn't been for that cougar... Never mind. The silence was broken by a beautiful woman's voice. The double-barreled shotgun was put on alert. But who are the Jededayes afraid of? Woman? She's the one who should be afraid of him! She walked over to the fire... completely naked. Everything would be fine if it weren't for her sharp teeth...
