Elmer's Twin Vertical Wobbler #2 Model Engine Build Part 1 - Mini Lathe and Benchtop Mill Project
Elmer's Number 2 Twin Vertical Wobbler is a popular, simple model steam or compressed air engine design by Elmer Verburg, featured in his books, known for its two cylinders and "wobbler" valve mechanism that allows it to run on low air pressure (around 3-4 psi).
Hobbyists build these from plans (often found online), using readily available scrap metal like aluminum and brass for the base, cylinders, and pistons, creating a functional miniature engine.
Key Characteristics:
Type: Twin Cylinder Wobbler Model Engine.
Designer: Elmer Verburg.
Mechanism: A simple "wobbler" design, where the cylinders tilt (wobble) to control steam/air flow.
Power: Operates on low-pressure air, making it a popular project for beginners.
Build: Often built from scrap materials, demonstrating basic machining skills with materials like aluminum and brass.
