A Radio Isotope bone scan is a specialized radiology procedure that identifies changes in the skeletal structure. A small amount of substance, known as 'trace' is injected. These tracers spread throughout the skeletal system and help to formulate a picture of the bones.
This scan helps us to identify inflammation in the skeletal structure and identify conditions such as arthritis. Your doctor may refer you for a Radio Isotope scan to identify areas of inflammation or degeneration in the bones or joints.
