Complimentary roadside assistance is available 24/7 on Linkt roads, which exist in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

Transurban Road Safety Manager Dr Karen Stephan told Yahoo News “Transurban’s incident response team provides complimentary assistance to motorists in need, whether it’s a breakdown, flat tyre, loose load, crash, or even the odd animal rescue.”

More than 1,500 cameras along the road network are monitored, which allows teams to be quickly dispatched when incidents take place.

One of Transurban’s incident response officers, Amanda Wells, said dispatch teams are often on the scene in under eight minutes with safety gear and signage to alert fellow drivers and create a safe zone around the incident.

Like many Aussies, driver Tash said she “had no idea” about the toll road perk before she found herself needing it, but said it was a huge relief to hear that she could be towed to the nearest service station “free of charge”.

She added, “I think if more people knew about roadside assistance, they would be more inclined to drive on the toll roads. I’m glad to know that the money we spend to use the roads is being put to use.”
