The bowl turned out excellently, crafted from an apple wood crotch. Given that the pith of the apple tree is highly prone to cracking, I had to figure out how to repair them. By using CA glue and wood dust, this issue was resolved to a quite acceptable standard. The resulting finish is very close to the natural grain of the apple wood. After sanding up to 180 grit, I applied several coats of shellac and a final finish of linseed oil.
CAUTION: In the video shown, using gloves on lathe IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED for safety reasons! I'm forced to use them because of my skin allergy to wood dust. Therefore, I have to work slowly and with my fingers at a distance than when working without gloves. In responsible and dangerous situations, I work without gloves. ALWAYS FOLLOW SAFETY PRECAUTIONS!
