Описание: This is a video I made for my fourth grade students explaining a little bit about Zentangles, patterns and value. We focused on using patterns to create both variety and value making some areas lighter or darker by paying attention to how much the white of the paper shows within the pattern. It is essentially a bit of optical color theory just applied in a different way. For the project, students started by drawing an animal of their choosing. Next they created patterns to fill in all the different shapes in their composition. One of the things I really like about this project is that the repetition of patterns can be very soothing to create. The finished product looks very complex and impressive giving students a sense of pride in their work, but the process overall is very simple and provides many paths to success so it is calming to create and it doesn't require a lot of materials making it a perfect project for remote learning.
