Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is the bustling economic centre of Vietnam, known for its dynamic energy and historical significance. The city boasts a compelling mix of French colonial architecture, sleek skyscrapers, and vibrant street markets. Landmarks like the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon and the War Remnants Museum highlight its diverse cultural heritage. The city’s streets are alive with the buzz of motorbikes, offering an array of street food vendors, chic cafes, and bustling nightlife. Ho Chi Minh City is a place where traditional Vietnamese culture intersects with modern influences, making it a fascinating destination to explore.

So, when Vietnam Airlines offered a 15-hour stopover in this metropolis between London and Melbourne, I jumped at the chance. This allowed me to get out of the airport and eat my way through the market – hands down one of my favourite things to do whenever I visit.
