I love solo canoe camping with my adventure dog! We head out for a 3-day wilderness fishing adventure in Quetico Provincial Park.

This video is a little different than most. Most of this story focuses on a challenging medical condition that struck our dear Wendell in the spring of 2025. Suffering a spinal stroke, he was sidelined from anything fun all summer: running off leash, wrastling with other dogs, and canoe trips into the wilderness-his absolute favorite.

After four months of physical therapy every single day, Wendell was finally cleared to go on canoe trips again! This trip is the story of his trauma, recovery and reintroduction to the wilderness.

Of course, we focus a whole lot on fishing, too. The stars aligned for this trip and we had unbelievable weather, and even better fishing. This is without a doubt, the best lake trout fishing I've ever had. I end up catching no fewer than a dozen lake trout over 28 inches and 7 pounds, with the largest going 34" and 14lbs of laker fury.
