Philips VHS VCRs... (Philips finally learned that their V2000 format was a technological dead end and joined the VHS camp... but they didn't learn their lesson re: VCR reliability. These Philips "Charley deck" VCRs - aka "plastic pigs" were even less reliable than their V2000 machines. That would have seemed impossible if you were to explain that to someone who repaired their V2000 machines a few years earlier, but they did it, they managed to make a succeeding line of VCRs even worse than the ones that came before them. That's an achievement that deserves a slow hand clap...)
