MBT Condemns Communal Slur Against IPS Officer Gaush Alam; Questions Silence of BRS Leadership:
Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) strongly condemns the objectionable and deeply offensive remarks allegedly made by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy against Karimnagar Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam, a Muslim IPS officer.
Referring to a senior police officer as “Turkudu” is not merely irresponsible language—it clearly exposes Mr. Kaushik Reddy’s communal mindset. Such remarks seek to target a constitutional authority based on religious identity and amount to the communalisation of the lawful discharge of duties by a public servant. This conduct from a sitting legislator is wholly unacceptable and strikes at the core of India’s constitutional and secular values.
Amjed Ullah Khan, Spokesman of MBT, stated: “Rassi Jal Gayi Par Bal Nahi Gaya,” underscoring that despite repeated incidents and public criticism, certain leaders continue to display the same divisive and regressive mindset.
Mr. Khan further said that Muslims of Telangana still remember the demolition of nine Masjids during the nine-year rule of the BRS party, and that Padi Kaushik Reddy’s statement is nothing but rubbing salt on the wounds of the Muslim community. He asserted that such insensitive and communal remarks reopen painful memories and deepen the sense of injustice felt by minorities.
Mr. Khan also questioned the silence of BRS leadership, particularly K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), over this serious issue. He said that their continued silence raises grave concerns and appears to amount to tacit approval of communal rhetoric. “When an MLA indulges in communal slurs against a constitutional authority, party leadership cannot remain mute spectators. Silence at the top only emboldens such behaviour,” he asserted.
Majlis Bachao Tahreek demands strict and exemplary action against the erring MLA and calls upon the BRS leadership to publicly condemn the remarks. MBT reiterates that communal abuse, intimidation of public servants, and divisive politics have no place in a democratic society, and accountability must begin from the very top
