Olotayan Island is an island of legend.
The name is a combination of olo (“head”) and “tyan” (stomach), as a Capiz legend tells of a cruel giant whose body the anitos (gods) struck with lightning, scattering his body parts all over the sea.
Nearer to Roxas’ shore is Mantalinga Island – reportedly the giant’s “mata” (eyes) and “talinga” (ears).
How do you get to Olotayan Island?
Rarely visited by outsiders, there are no regular trips to Olotayan. As a matter of fact, the only way to get there is to arrange a private boat trip, or to hitch a ride on one of the bangkas (motorized canoes) heading back to the island from Banica Pier or Punta Cogon on the mainland.
Entrance Fee: FREE
Cottage Rental Fee: Php 500
Boat Rental Rates: Php 4000 (depending on the size of the vessel and group)
Air-conditioned room: Php 5,000 (can accommodate 10-15 persons)
Clean Water (for shower): Php 25/gallon
KTV rental available
Electricity available on the island (no outlet on cottages)
Water supply is limited
