A comedian once joked that it would be extremely shocking if in line on judgment day, a famous born again friend or preacher who was in front of you, were told he/ she never made the cut and were sent straight to hell! Sounds very funny...but WOW! It would still give me the flutters.
We all want to go to heaven but the most important thing most ponder on is, "...will I make it?" and sometimes, and this is just me, I wonder, "...will my wife...will my child...will my friends and family...?"...I just wonder...
Jesus told us during His conversation with Thomas in the fourteenth chapter of the book of John that He is the way, the truth and the life, and that no one can go to the Father - God - without going through Him.
Jesus was trying to tell us that to go to heaven - to God - we need Him to come into our lives. We need to be born again - and praise God for all that are born again!
Here's the problem though; we still live in these mortal bodies, in this world, which by the longest mile, is furthest from the bodies and world that will be in heaven, and if you are past your 12th birthday, you know that they both come with 'issues' and 'stuff'! and the 'issues' and 'stuff' most of the time prevent us from having that assurance of heaven...born again and all...
Like most of us, Paul the apostle found himself having an 'issue', or some form of 'stuff'. The bible then records in the twelfth chapter of the book of 2nd Corinthians of him asking God three times to remove it (like most of us always do) and God doing nothing...
All God tells him is "Paul, my grace is sufficient for you..."...and people, it is high time we all realize that even in our mortal bodies and in this world, full of its 'issues' and 'stuff', that never seem to help us in our focus for heaven, God's grace is sufficient to help us through to heaven.
His grace is 'that' strength we need in those times we feel so inadequate, so dismayed, so discouraged, so downtrodden, so alone, so condemned...to the point of giving up on the focus of heaven.
This month, come and let's hear from the Lord on His grace...His amazing grace that is sufficient for all of us.
As we all focus on heaven, please remember that in your inadequacies, your dismay, your discouragements, your being downtrodden over and over, your loneliness, your condemnations...He is made strong in them, for you! So don't you give up, don't you give in and for heaven's sake, don't you give out! Keep on toward heaven! Because God the father is waiting for us.
Press on!
