£500 vs £1000, for double the money what do you get that is so much better?
Duratex & Dropstitch, the material and the stiffer performance it creates is the noticeable difference when you paddle.
Add in the fact the Chelan has no outer skin, nothing to get wet and soak up water, or be a pain to try... then you already have 2x big differences. A faster paddling boat and a faster drying boat.
Quality it is important to note is the same, they are both high quality products, both durable, just done in different ways to achieve difference price points.
The seat on the Chelan as well as the bag are better, but you expect that as you spend more.
In summary, if you spend a weekend on the water, perhaps the Chelan is better suited. If you are spending a few hours on the water with the family, for most people the Chinook will give you all you need and more.
