Описание: Are humans wired to love?
We're hard-wired to bond with each other. That suggests the capacity for love evolved, that natural selection favoured caring for one another. Fossils tell us that love evolved hundreds of millions of years ago, helping our mammalian ancestors survive in the time of the dinosaurs.

Is the brain responsible for love?
Anecdotally, love is a matter of the heart. However, the main organ affected by love is actually the brain.

Does love give you dopamine?
High levels of dopamine and a related hormone, norepinephrine, are released during attraction. These chemicals make us giddy, energetic, and euphoric, even leading to decreased appetite and insomnia – which means you actually can be so “in love” that you can't eat and can't sleep.

Is love serotonin or dopamine?
Researchers have scanned the brains of people who are madly in love and found a heavy surge of dopamine, a neurotransmitter in the brain's reward system that helps people feel pleasure. Dopamine, along with other chemicals, gives us that energy, focus, and obsession we feel when we're wild about someone.

Does being in love decrease serotonin?
Love affects serotonin, a neurotransmitter primarily responsible for regulating behavior and mood. Interestingly, love's impact on serotonin largely depends on gender. For men, serotonin levels decrease in response to a romantic relationship, while women experience a significant increase in serotonin.

What does oxytocin do in love?
When you hug or kiss a loved one, your pituitary gland releases oxytocin. This is especially important for pair bonding, like in romantic relationships, as it elevates your mood and makes you feel more "attached" to your romantic partner.

Do both men and women produce oxytocin? Yep, but women typically have higher oxytocin levels than men. (It's a key hormone involved in childbirth and lactation, after all). Biological differences aside, men and women appear to experience oxytocin in many of the same ways.
