Описание: Thredbo is located roughly 6.5 hrs drive from either Sydney or Melbourne and 2.5 hrs drive from Canberra. Thredbo is a village and ski resort, and is located within the Kosciuszko National Park in the NSW Snowy Mountains and is open 365 days a year. The town has around 4,150 beds, but a permanent population of only about 471 people. When the mountain is fully covered by snow, Thredbo has the longest ski runs in Australia, and this attracts around 700,000 winter visitors annually. In summer, Thredbo is a hiking and summer sport destination, including rock climbing and abseiling, fishing, cross-country cycling and downhill MTB riding and hosts a blues music festival, boasting approximately 300,000 summer visitors

From Thredbo you can experience the natural beauty of Australia’s highest mountains in summer as you walk and hike some incredible alpine trails. With glacial lakes, unique flora and fauna and mountains as far as the eye can see, it’s a must do whilst visiting Thredbo throughout summer.
Hiking to the highest peak in Australia, Mount Kosciuszko (KOZZ-ee-OZ-koh, previously spelled Mount Kosciusko) is mainland Australia's highest mountain, at 2,228 metres (7,310 ft) above sea level. It is located on the Main Range of the Snowy Mountains in Kosciuszko National Park, part of the Australian Alps National Parks and Reserves, in New South Wales, Australia.
The peak is approached from Thredbo, taking 3.5 to 4 hours to the top. This straightforward walk starts from the top of the Thredbo Kosciuszko Express chairlift, which operates all year-round. The walking path is popular in summer, and is a mesh walkway to protect the native vegetation and prevent erosion. It is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to Rawson Pass, where it meets the track from Charlotte Pass, and from where it is a further 1.4 kilometres (0.87 mi) to the summit.
The peak and the surrounding areas are snow-covered in winter and spring (usually beginning in June and continuing until October or later). The track from Thredbo is easily followed until covered by snow in winter.

Eighteen people died when the Bimbadeen and Carinya lodges collapsed at Thredbo Alpine Village at 11:30 pm on 30 July 1997. Carinya and Bimbadeen Lodges collapsed when the slope above Carinya Lodge slipped downhill, destroying Carinya. Bimbadeen Lodge was then hit, and it too collapsed. The sole survivor, Stuart Diver, was pulled from the wreckage after lying trapped for three days. Stuart was confined to a small space between two concrete slabs where his wife, Sally, drowned beside him in a torrent of water, which Stuart was able to keep his face above.
The landslide was caused by a water leak from a ruptured water pipe that ran alongside the Alpine Road situated above the two lodges. The leaking water pipe caused the ground to become lubricated, allowing the top layer to slip away from the lower part.

Lake Hume.
Lake Hume is undoubtedly one of the Victorian and New South Wales’ borders most defining features. Lake Hume holds around six times the amount of water as Sydney Harbour. Lake Hume is a popular tourist destination with things to see and do all year round including boating, fishing, camping, sightseeing and many more recreational activities.
