I started my career as a fashion influencer in 2015 and since then have done hundreds of shoots, been paid over $200k and have racked up 800k followers.

Gaining followers on Instagram is so much harder than it used to be when they first launched

Back in the day, all you had to do was put some hashtags on photos and you’d immediately get hundreds of followers

Granted, back in 2010, nobody could make any money on Instagram and nobody could predict it’d be the phenomenon it is today

Today there’s so much more competition which is what makes it so hard to grow. I joined Insagram in 2015, after the gold rush and have managed to grow by using these techniques:

// you need to do your work during the “golden hour”

[ ] After you publish your photo, you need to spend the next hour liking and commenting
Anybody who comments you post you should reply back and engage them

[ ] You need to go to your competitors or people in your niche and engage with people commenting on their posts
Go onto their commenters pages and like and comment on photos you like.

// Every day you need to engage for 1-2 hours

Spend as much time as you can doing this and your goal is really to connect with them. Write insightful comments that take into their lives and their passions

People on social are looking for connection and that’s something you can provide for people and that’s how you build an audience

Granted you only have so many hours in the day and engaging is really hard, that’s why people turn to bots to automate this process.

I definitely don’t recommend using a bot. Currently it’s banned by Instagram and although it may work short term, in the long run it’ll only hurt you

My suggestion is to instead invest in building your team. Put up a Craigslist ad or a listing on upwork.com and hire them to engage for you.

By engaging with people, it will encourage them to like and comment on your posts and drive up your own “engagement rAte”

The higher your engagement rate, the more likely your posts will appear on the explore page and get more people to find, like and follow you

When taking photos you want to make sure they’re always in raw format which preserves all the highlights and details of a photo.

Your first step is to organize your photos and dump anything that’s out of focus, looks funky, etc

Then you’ll take your favorites and import them into Lightroom

Lightroom is an adobe product that you can get free trials of or pay about $10-30 per month depending on what you use. I pay for premiere pro too for my videos but you just need Lightroom

You can always just take your photos and publish them manually on ig

When you do this it’s really hard to keep your grid in tact unless you’re using some app or software

Also when you do that you are missing important metrics like what time and day do you get the most likes and comments

Finally, it’s a lot of work and sometimes you May forget to publish at the exact right time

I publish a photo every day and schedule up to 10 posts in advance and they publish automatically, tagging brands, locations as well as hashtags and I do it with later.com
