Gary and Taylor chat about transitioning conventional agriculture land to an organic model. They also discuss buying and renting land; Gary dives into his process of retaining land that he rents without having to enter long-term contracts. Gary talks about his crop rotation plan and how he communicates his farming process with landowners he wants to work with. He explains the mistakes farmers make while planting rye as a cover crop and then talks about his process of rolling and harvesting rye as a cover crop.
Taylor and Gary delve into his process of possibly grazing cattle on his cover crops in the fall to trample and cut it down before winter. They chat about bloat with cattle and how to combat this by using a variety of seed blends in your cover crops.
