Adding Some Serious Tech To My Motorhome

Today the motorhome is getting ripped apart while Jon from ‪@lifebeyondbricks‬ installs a few upgrades I’ve wanted for ages. We’re mounting my Starlink Mini properly on the roof, wiring it into the Victron Cerbo so I can control it remotely, adding new power points, and even turning the fridge into a smart device.

The van is a complete mess while we’re doing it. Sofas out, cupboards emptied, cables everywhere. But the goal is simple. Make the motorhome easier to live in off-grid and give me more control over power, internet and automation. Starlink can now be switched on from my phone, the EcoFlow power stations will soon be able to recharge the van from inside, and the wiring in the bedroom has finally been cleaned up.

Of course, nothing ever goes perfectly. The morning after the install we find water getting into the Starlink cable connector after a night of heavy rain, so Jon has to jump back on the roof and seal everything properly. Motorhome roofs are brutal environments for tech like this, so it’s a good reminder to double-check installs.
