Описание: Spears have a lot of fans within the wider historical weapons enthusiast community, but at the same time this leaves a big question open: in the late middle ages, we see spears giving way to other polearms. Why did this happen? It has most likely a lot to with infantry getting access to better body armour, and as a result no longer need to keep one hand free to use a shield. This allowed them to use more potent weapons that require two hands, such as halberds and pikes. This sparring video shows the advantages of both these weapons against shorter spears.
