It has taken us about 6 months of off and on work to get the project to this point.

The ultimate goal is to develop a table that is good enough, "fun-to-drive" enough, and consistently reliable enough to allow for the hosting of digital club racing events.

I'd like to give a huge shout-out to the following people, whose guidance and help has been critical during these early stages:

First, best, and most, to my wife.

She handled every last ounce of the carpentry work required for this project by herself. I brought her drinks and stayed out of her way. She is a carpenter by trade and by hobby and without her expertise and many long hours of selfless work, this racetrack would not exist. Period.

If you want to build a slot car track, these are the guys. We replicated their table design almost exactly, with the exception of cutting the table height in half. Within the space allotted, this allowed for a more overhead viewing angle of the racing action.

Their videos are detailed, well-edited, fun and entertaining to boot! Great sense of humor on those chaps.

In addition to greatly assisting with technical requirements, I found their series of videos regarding track design considerations to be of paramount importance. They stress the issue multiple times throughout almost all of their slot car videos and I will echo their message here again:

Once you decide to build your slot car track, you should try to have some sense of what you want to achieve at the end, and then let that vision dictate the build.

There are many complex decisions that must be accounted for along the way and if you have a clear endgame in mind, many of those decisions will ultimately handle themselves.

He's a wizard.

Brilliant. Affable. Cheeky. A man of detail. Gary has already forgotten more about Scalextric than I'll ever hope to know. A legend in the UK slot car racing scene for nearly twenty years and co-creator of the Digital Slot Car Association (DiSCA) and their penultimate annual event, the Slot-It Oxigen Digital 24 Hours of Le Mans. Gary's many videos have really helped me get the most out of all my Scalextric kit, both cars and track.

Since my discovery of the slot car universe and growth thereafter, John has basically been an "Across the Pond" contemporary, albeit quite unknowingly. When I found his YouTube channel, he was an entry-level slot car enthusiast running Scalextric, just like me. He started off with a small set on the floor which then grew to a much larger tabletop design, just like me. He hopes to take the performance of his cars and track somewhat seriously, just like me. And finally, in pursuit of those endeavors, he enlisted the help of a well-known professional in the field, the illustrious Gary Skipp himself. The combination of John's enthusiasm and Gary's expert advice made for the most welcoming atmosphere a beginner slot car hobbyist could have possibly hoped for.

John additionally provides absolutely fantastic coverage of the annual Slot-It/Oxigen/DiSCA 24 Hours of Le Mans event. It is clearly an exhaustive effort, but absolutely worth it and well appreciated in the end. John's coverage of the event should be considered a "Must Watch" for any aspiring slot car fan as the event represents what the pinnacle of the hobby looks like today.

If slot car racing had a talisman, Peter would be it. He represents the very best of what being a slot car track fan is really all about. His raw, unbridled passion for the hobby shines through in every video he makes. Indeed, on many days when I found my own ambitions lagging, hesitant to begin the next stage of construction or deal with yet another shipping delay, it was Peter's voice that prodded me to action, reminding me that at heart, we are all indeed TRACK FANNNNNNNNSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
