Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is in Seoul on a three-day trip aimed at boosting economic ties with South Korea.

Bhutto will meet with President Kim Young-sam to discuss politics, trade and economics.

The two leaders will also discuss Pakistan's close military and political ties with North Korea - the South's communist neighbour.

Benazir Bhutto on her first visit to South Korea - the first trip by a Pakistani president in eight years.

Although Pakistan maintains close ties with North Korea, which Bhutto visited in 1993, the west-Asian nation is seeking closer economic ties with Seoul.

Flowers in arms and the initial pomp and ceremony under way - Bhutto will soon turn her mind to business.

The Prime Minister is hoping to develop and promote more cooperative ties between the two countries.

The trip could also be rewarding for South Korea who could stand to expand its economic footholds in Southwest Asia.

Currently, South Korean companies are running electronics and textile companies in Pakistan and recently won contracts to build roads and power plants in the country.

If all goes well, the trip could also create closer military ties between the two countries.

It's sure that this topic and North Korea will top the agendas when Prime Minister Bhutto meets with her South Korean counterpart, Kim Young-Sam today (on Monday).
