CATAAlliance -- Conflict Management Initiative: Call for Expressions of Interest

Описание: In our ongoing role of assisting members with the effective management and operation of their enterprises, CATAAlliance (www.cata.ca) is conducting best practice research, inclusive of developing an industry-wide survey and related tools which serve the two fold purpose of illustrating the costs of conflict within an organization and also providing valuable data to assist in the development of programs for the management of conflict in a cost effective manner. Properly managed conflict, which is a fact of life, can be converted into a positive experience which reinforces the values and positive attributes of a company.

Every company is searching for cost efficiencies in order to enhance their productivity. Frequently, however, companies ignore a readily available source of savings. It is generally assumed that conflict is part of business. That much is true, however, the management of conflict and the cost associated with the mismanagement of conflict is a missed opportunity in most companies. The conventional wisdom is that most of the costs associated with conflict are in terms of legal fees. In reality, the costs of conflict that are mismanaged are far higher. The impact on customer relationships, employee morale and permanent impairment of working relationships either within or outside the company are huge costs in terms of the overall success of the enterprise. One mismanaged conflict can destroy years of goodwill and negate years of advertising and marketing.

With the use of a Survey tool now in development, it is our belief that even by completing the survey respondents will discern the impact of conflict on their organization and also opportunities for cost savings as a result of the conscious management of conflict rather than defaulting to the standard responses.

Note that a Conflict Advisory Panel (CAP) has also been set up as a forum to provide information about cost effective ways to resolve conflict while preserving business relationships.
