About This Release:

As the title neatly implies, this album is a sequel to our 2016 release The Nashville Session. Since we were touring in the neighbourhood and had a day off, it made sense to dash back into the same studio to lay down some more live cuts. The main difference this time is that, instead of organ, our man Joe Tatton plays various pianos and a vintage analogue synth.
The recording accurately documents the way the band sounded in mid-2018, at which point The New Mastersounds had been together for nearly twenty years and released twelve previous studio albums. The compositions presented here are all NMS originals, with two exceptions: our arrangement of John Cameron's KPM cult classic Afro Metropolis and a jammed-out instrumental version of the Sneaker Pimps song Six Underground.
Our live set was recorded and mixed directly onto ¼" stereo tape reels on a hot June evening in front of an invited studio audience, members of whom took turns either to watch in the live room or listen from the control room. Of fifteen pieces performed we chose eight to be cut onto a vinyl LP and added two more to go on this CD. There are no edits and no overdubs: just bass, drums, guitar and keyboards.
