Ken and Deborah Berry are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The couple wanted to do their part to protect themselves and their community. That commitment to community is just part of who they are.
They’ve always been there to lend a helping hand, from their work with education and the Martin Luther King Project, to their most recent work during the pandemic. They started sewing masks and then moved on to helping people sign up for appointments to snag their coronavirus vaccination. Now, they’re set on educating and encouraging others who might be hesitant to get the vaccine.
The virus has had a disproportionate impact on Black people. As a Black man, Ken says he understands the distrust but wants to lend his voice and story to help others understand the benefits and safety of the COVID vaccines.
Ken and Deborah are continuing their commitment to community by taking part in a public service announcement, produced in a partnership between KGW and Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon.
