Live Tonight on Millennium Stage: Bia Ferreira is a Brazilian singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and artivist that defines her music as “MMP—Música de Mulher Preta” (Black Woman Music). Her songs are all about racism, homophobia, feminism, and love. As a teen, she left her home and traveled alone with a guitar all around Brazil, living for her music, playing everywhere she was allowed to, singing and playing to everyone that wanted to hear her. She was spreading messages of love but also talking about feminism, racism, and homophobia. One day, she found herself making a Sofar Sound session and one of the songs she played, “Cota Não É Esmola,” quickly reached over 13 million views on YouTube.
And ever since she’s been playing solo or with a band all over Brazil, North America, and in Europe. She’s grazed important world stages around the globe in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, Spain, Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the U.K., to name a few.
