Описание: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Thursday it will take “weeks and months” to get through the second wave of COVID-19, but emphasized the importance of following health guidelines like physical distancing in order to avoid the “blunt instrument” of a second lockdown.

Trudeau made the comments Friday during a media availability outlining the latest COVID-19 modelling data, alongside chief medical officer of health Dr. Theresa Tam.

Tam, meanwhile, called out so-called “superspreader events” on Friday, stating that an increasing number of COVID-19 cases have been linked to large public gatherings. She said that this has put a strain on testing capacity and contact tracing.

Canada hit another grim milestone in the novel coronavirus pandemic earlier in the week as the country’s death toll surpassed 10,000.
