NATO peacekeeping troops in Kosovo have carried out only their second cross-unit patrol of villages in the American sector of the province.
American airborne soldiers from Fort Bragg teamed up with the army helicopter unit based in Germany to patrol the villages on Thursday.
And they seemed to receive a warm welcome from the locals.
The 82nd airborne division heads into the American sector of Kosovo by helicopter.
They have teamed up with the army helicopter unit for only the second cross-unit patrol of NATO peacekeeping troops in the province.
From the air, the damage wrought by the conflict in this area is clear to see.
Once on the ground, the business of patrolling the American sector begins.
As the soldiers entered one village, they received a warm welcome, with residents lining their path and eagerly shaking their hands.
One soldier described how it felt to be in Kosovo.
UPSOUND: (English)
"(Q So how does it feel doing this?) It feels good. (Q So how does it feel coming into Kosovo?) It feels nice to do something good for somebody else."
SUPER CAPTION: Sgt. Scott Weiner, U-S soldier
One of the tasks of the NATO peacekeepers is the confiscation of weapons from both sides.
And this patrol managed quite a haul on Thursday.
These weapons were confiscated from both the Serb and K-L-A forces.
Once patrol duties are over the soldiers return to base, with the prospect of more of these cross-unit exercises during their Kosovo peacekeeping mission.
