Creating an even paint layer on the gel plate while keeping it sufficiently wet is the tricky part. Speed is essential, and gauging the paint’s wetness is crucial. Watching the paint roll onto the scrap paper gives a hint—it’s a tiny tell you shouldn’t miss.
