In the 20th century, it became possible to create virtual 3D spaces using CG.
However, even in abstract works, objects are still placed in three-dimensional space. This is an imitation of the spatial structure of the real world and allows us to show alternatives that are not possible in reality. First, a programmable shader is used to apply ray marching to the space itself, which causes dizziness. It is no longer possible to discern the dimensions of the output image. Furthermore, by placing a large number of abstract and dynamic objects in space and applying ray marching to them, the traditional figure that objects exist in 3D space is destroyed as a result.
Furthermore, in sound, a dynamic sound source is simply attached to an object (I used traditional Western instruments to emphasize the effect below), however, if it is a mere simulation of the Doppler effect, namely an imitation of this real world, that's not enough for our purposes. I sampled the audio attached to each object and passed these values to the compute shader, which applies the turbulence algorithm to these sampled sounds in each frame. What this means philosophically is that the classical figure of Subject (microphone) and Object (sound source) in a certain spatial structure is destroyed by allowing sounds to behave non-physically freely against imaginary Subject (microphone). Since sound sources are gradually diverging according to this algorithm, these sounds are finally deformed into very delicate noises (so I did not use any de-noise plugin).
I recorded image and sound of this app in real time, then used those as materials for this audio-visual piece. I named this piece “de-synthesis”, because every classical figure about the triad of space, subject, and object is defeated successfully.
In this piece, opposed to Baudrillard' concept "Hyperreality", I tried to explore, sharpen, and also deepen the own region of the digital. We don't need to be surrounded by reality and are opened to vast and unknown dimension of digital.
