SMRT ATIS MK-IVa (World Engineering Summit 2015)

Описание: My very first time playing with the unit that gives us our daily dose of SMRT train announcements on board the North South and East West Line trains!

Have since been more familiar with the ATIS controls after this very first attempt featured here.

This is the SMRT Automatic Transit Information System (ATIS) which powers the announcement system on NSEWL. It was featured at the recent World Engineering Summit 2015 held at Singapore Suntec Convention Centre from 21 July 2015 - 24 July 2015. SMRT featured their latest ATIS system that can now support multimedia content such as advertisements and graphical diagrams of station layouts etc.

As this is part of the demonstration, simulation and prototypical process, this is not the actual ATIS that will be used onboard the trains in future. However it will be something close enough to this set here. Additionally, the system here features complete manual operation to trigger announcements.

In the actual system, the train operator is only required to execute Steps 1-3 as shown in video annotations before starting his trip and the rest of the announcement triggering is done by tachogenerator wheel rotation distance countdown to next station. The starting distance-to-go value till next station for the countdown is already preset inside the ATIS as the "ATIS Distance" for that run. Distance data is just simply extracted and executed accordingly.
