ROMANIA UNSEEN, 6 days in The Carpathian Mountains

Описание: ► ABOUT THIS TRIP
In early September 2023, me and my Romanian companion, Diana, journeyed for 6 days through the incredible mountainous landscapes of northern Muntenia and southern Transylvania.

► Day One: We arrived in Sinaia early morning from Bucharest. We hiked from the valley below to the beautiful Peleș Castle, and got lost "on purpose" in the beautiful mountain landscape of Sinaia.

► Day Two: After staying the night in Sinaia, we got up early in the morning and travelled a short distance by train to Busteni. Here we took the cable car up the Caraiman Peak, where we saw the iconic and unusual Sphinx and Babele rock formations. We then hiked to the Heroes' Cross on Caraiman Peak (45 minute hike).

► Day Three: After staying the night in Busteni, we made a small trip to the Cantacuzino Castle. Apparently known for being the set where the series "Wednesday" was shot. Not being terribly excited about the whole ordeal we quickly departed, and made the train from Busteni to Brasov, a charming city in the region of Transylvania. We explored the city, and hiked up to the summit of Tâmpa, up to where the famous Brasov sign is located.
This part of the film is depicted in a separate order to make it flow better.
We stayed in Brasov for two nights.

► Day Four: Waking up in Brasov, we went to explore the old city and its many beautiful and charming streets and restaurants. We then went to visit the Citadel Fortress of Brasov. We then took a bus to Poiana Brasov, a popular ski destination resort. With no plan in mind, we started hiking up the ski slopes (extremely steep), until we made it to the top of the mountain where we bought some well deserved refreshments and were rewarded with a gorgeous sunset.

► Day Five: We woke up in Brasov for the last time, and parted for Bran. We decided to make a short stop in the beautiful city of Râșnov. We hiked up to the medieval fortress of Râșnov Citadel. Little did we know that there was a medieval fair making the place buzzing with life. Quite charming indeed. We then proceeded to make our way to our last stop of the trip. Bran. We arrived at sunset.

► Day Six: On this day we decided to go on a final spontaneous hike through the mountainous side of Bran.
