Settlements of Bede can be found in Kankshaar, Munsirhat or Ichapura of Munshiganj-Bikrampur. Bede para in Savar Chhota Amarpur, Bara Amarpur, Porabari, Bakhtarpur and Jaypara also have settlements of Bedes. The nomadic life of the Bede can be seen around almost all ports. They still trade in the surrounding villages.

Lauyo, Chapaila, Bajikar, Bez, Gain, Melch, Bandaira, Mal and Sapuria women of these 9 communities had a different lifestyle and livelihood diversity at one time. As a result of drastic changes in the socio-economic conditions of the village, the old occupation of Vede women is no longer practiced. He used to work for livelihood in various places including Kamrup-Kamaksha, Garo Hills throughout the year. In the month of Kartika, everyone used to come to a plain and perform marriage-rites and court-rites together. Now the people of Bede no longer have the means to live their own lives. He/she lives his/her life as best he/she can. They have no permanent residence. Their nomadic life goes around in boats. Bede women are surviving by fighting against various hostile environments.
