In this video I cover the current medical thinking about multiple sclerosis; that it is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS), and more specifically, the myelin sheath that insulates the nerves in the CNS; as well as the common MS symptoms that can arise due to this neurological damage. I go on to explain the three different types of MS, namely relapsing and remitting MS, secondary progressive MS, and primary progressive MS. I end by discussing the possible causes of the condition; including low Vitamin D levels; links to the Epstein-Barr Virus; genetics; hormones; and distance from the equator.
