On July 4, 2025, the federal government passed a new law that makes significant changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps). All states, including Illinois, are now required to implement the changes that could affect neighbors’ SNAP eligibility or require them to take extra steps to receive SNAP benefits.
This webinar, presented by the Illinois Commission to End Hunger, covers the upcoming changes to SNAP immigrant eligibility set to start later this year. It also reviews how to screen and apply for exemptions before walking through some reporting scenarios for those who are not exempt.
