German steam locomotives from Bayerisches Eisenbahnmuseum (Bavarian Railway Museum) and Eisenbahnfreunde Zollernbahn (Friends of the Zollern Railway) came together on April 30 2022 for a historic trip from Ulm in Southwestern Germany along the Danube to Lake Constance at the border to Switzerland and back.
Both locomotives are German class 01 locomotives. 01 180 owned and operated by the BEM has had a new boiler fitted by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1960 and 01 519 owned and operated by the EFZ had been modernized by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1963-1964, explaining their slightly different looks.
