Split Fiction (Xbox Series X) (Xclusive Bro-Op Gaming - Part 13) Winter is Coming

In this video, Mio & Zoe arrive at the Ice Kingdom & search the land for the Ice King.

Split Fiction is an action-adventure game with a lot of puzzle & platforming elements that revolves around two authors, Mio Hudson (a Sci-Fi writer) & Zoe Foster (a Fantasy writer), that are invited by a company called Rader Publishing to test out a new and experimental simulation device that is supposedly the future of the entertainment industry. The device is supposed to bring the creative vision of any writer to life by fleshing it out into an interactive & immersive experience that the user can witness first hand. Zoe sees this as the perfect opportunity to become a published author while Mio is primarily in it for the money, however, they both decide to take part in this interesting experiment. After the machine starts up, each participant is encased in a bubble & placed into a suspended state while they are immersed within the simulation. Mio, seeing this play out, becomes immediately suspicious of the experiment & attempts to back out. The Rader employees react aggressively & attempt to force her to stay which inadvertently leads Mio to fall into Zoe's bubble. This causes Mio to enter Zoe's simulation while also glitching out the system which forces both Mio & Zoe to work together in an effort to safely return to the outside world.

The gameplay in this game is very similar to other games from Hazelight Studios (It Takes Two & A Way Out). Split Fiction was specifically designed from the ground up as a split screen co-op game where you need two people to play the game as it heavily revolves around working together as one unit. As with It Takes Two, this game is quite easy to pick up & play, however, it does have its challenges. The screen is always split into two so that both players always see each other's location and are always aware of each other's actions. This is extremely important as this game is all about teamwork and collaboration. Quite often, the players will find themselves on a split path where they have to use their unique powers in order to progress to the next area. For example, in one of the game's early chapters, Mio can transform herself into a fantasy version of a sea otter & help Zoe across sections where the water is infested by piranha by dragging her across the water on a tall buoyant piece of wood. This game oozes creativity while also including gorgeous visuals, amazing level design & a very captivating story. Each chapter plays out as a book idea that either Mio or Zoe came up with at one point in their life.

Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: Split Fiction includes a total of 20 achievements for a total of 1000 GS. Only one (1) of the 20 achievements is unlocked as part of the story (for completing the game) while the other 19 are obtained by completing miscellaneous actions (which means they are technically missable). For example, in one level you
can anger a robotic concierge by attacking it until it is forced to reboot. The best part is that the game does include a chapter-select feature which means that you don't have to worry about missing any of the achievements during your first playthrough. The achievements are not really difficult to obtain once you know what to do. That being said, this is a fairly easy completion that should take you around 8 to 12 hours.
