We make our own animal bedding (for free) using wood chips with wood leftover from trees that came down in last winters ice storm. We had two ice storms within a couple of weeks and we lost several trees and anything that wasn't utilized for firewood has been made into animal bedding. We already have the equipment to cut and split our own firewood and a couple of acres of woods. We replaced straw several years ago with wood chips and have never looked back.
