Dairy-free Butter Icing
Ingredients
150g of dairy free margarine that contains an emulsifier
400g of icing or powdered sugar
An extra 200g of icing or powered sugar
1 tea spoon of vanilla bean paste
Food colouring – check the ingredients for “may contain” warning
Electric mixer
Mix the butter in the mixer for 5 minutes
Add the icing sugar 100g at a time and mix for 5 minutes each time, for a total of 20 minutes mixing time
Add the vanilla bean paste and mix it in
If you are making multiple colours, separate the butter icing into as many bowls as colours that you need
Add the food colouring and mix in thoroughly
Check the consistency of the icing and correct if necessary, by following the instructions in the video
